By far the most uplifting session that I attended at wherecamp eu was Hal Bertram from ito world talking about his work visualising Open Street Map and transportation data. People sometimes dismiss the geoweb as “only visualisation” well this is visualisation as art and there is no “only” about it.

This is not my idea of porn – even if it does leave me excited! This is very important for the better use and understanding of many location linked datasets. The constraints on the use of some underlying datasets was mentioned – and not even OS restrictions! This just shows how important it is to get access to reference datasets that are fundamental to the linkage and display of so much important information. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a 3D animated map has got to be worth a million!
